Women’s magazine journalist Dee Remmington sadly died on 2 October after a long career in the media.
Dee was for many years assistant editor, features, of Woman’s Own, working with outstanding figures in the industry such as Barbie Buss, Jane Reed, Pat Lamburn, Jill Churchill and Patsy Brougham. She was responsible for the training and career development of many of today’s top magazine journalists.
She was one of the toughest, most formidable features editors, from the vigorous, no-stone-unturned, ‘do it NOW’ school of journalism. She was well respected and admired by fellow journalists for her ideas as well as the sheer range, depth, knowledge, imagination and excitement that she brought to them.
Dee moved to Family Circle as a ‘permanent’ freelance senior feature writer, responsible for many memorable human-interest stories. She also became fiction editor, renewing many long-time contacts with authors and publishers.
She will be remembered with great affection and warmth by all her colleagues and friends.
