Paul Kennedy has been appointed news editor at the Liverpool Daily Post.
Kennedy started at the paper in 1997 and in 1999 won the BNFL Young Journalist of the Year award for his story which uncovered the Alder Hey Hospital organs scandal. He won this award again in 2001 for general news and was also highly commended at the Press Gazette and BT awards.
The internal promotion came at an ideal time for Kennedy, who is quickly warming to the role. He said: “This is a great opportunity to take the paper forward, especially at a time when Liverpool is winning its highest honour – Capital of Culture.”
