Western Morning News editor Barrie Williams is to be receive an award from Prince Charles for the work he has done to look after the countryside.
The Ambassador’s Award for the South West region, given on behalf of the Business in the Community charity, is presented to someone who plays a crucial leadership role in the work of the charity, has been instrumental in involving other companies and has set excellent personal standards.
Williams said: “I am honoured to receive this award. It reflects the huge amount of work that is going on to address rural issues and the essential need for regeneration in several aspects of countryside life.
“There is still a very great deal to be done and the Rural Action initiatives championed by the Prince of Wales are making a genuine impact.”
He will receive the award at Highgrove House on 5 September.
Alan Terrell, area director for Business in the Community in Devon, Dorset & Cornwall added: “This is terrific news. We are immensely proud that Barrie has won the award, and as I know that the rural agenda is very close to his heart, it is well deserved.”
