Cosmopolitan has made a series of appointments and promoted features editor Helen Daly to assistant editor.
Daly joined Cosmo two years ago from Marie Claire Health & Beauty where she was features editor. She will take over from Laurel Ives, who is leaving to become the deputy editor of Elle.
In her new role Daly, who has also been a feature writer on Company and Chat, will have more of an overview.
“I’ll be looking at the bigger picture – very much the campaigns and the tone and direction,” she said.
Ives is leaving Cosmo after 17 months. She previously spent five years based in New York where she reported on September 11 for the Daily Express and freelanced for titles including The Daily Telegraph, Evening Standard and Elle.
At Elle she will succeed former deputy Margi Conklin, who quit to take up the same post on InStyle. Ives said she was looking forward to the challenge. “Elle is a fashion magazine but it also has strong features so in some ways it’s similar to Cosmo. It’s a brilliant magazine – it is Britain’s leading fashion magazine,” she said.
She joins Elle on 1 December.
Cosmo has also signed Amy Pursehouse, former fashion editor at Red, to be its new fashion editor. She will work alongside fashion director Shelly Vella, predominantly on the essential selection pages.
