With just weeks to go before the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, many public bodies are not ready for it.
A parliamentary report this week says that readiness for the new regime, particularly among local authorities and health service bodies, is “patchy”. It concludes that successful compliance with the 20-day limit for answering requests “will be dependent on a relatively low initial level of requests.”
Well, they’ve only had four years to prepare for it.
