Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

CNN set for launch on UK Freeview

By Press Gazette

Rolling news channel CNN is set to double its potential UK audience by launching on Freeview in January.

The proposed move to the free-to-air digital TV platform will give an additional 10 million UK households the opportunity to view CNN, the broadcaster said.

The channel will be available seven days a week in an evenng slot.

London-based managing editor Nick Wrenn said: “This move to Freeview is an opportunity to introduce CNN’s European prime time programming to a new UK audience, at a time when international awareness and understanding of the global news environment has never been so critical.

“Certainly if our international web traffic is anything to go by, the UK’s appetite for news has never been more acute, and we look forward to providing TV viewers with the international perspective that the big stories of the day demand.”
