Closer tops PPA awards

By Press Gazette

Celeb weekly Closer last night scooped the top prize at the 25th PPA Awards.
Emap’s Closer was named consumer magazine of the
year for its commercial success in moving into profit in
under two years, and for “breaking scoops, a modern and fresh look,
cheerful outlook and redefinition of the women’s weeklies market”
according to the judges.
The consumer editor of the year prize was awarded to Conor McNicholas
for IPC’s NME, who was praised by the judges for his “personal
commitment to the brand’s commercial success.”
In the business and professional sector the judges praised weekly
business and professional magazine of the year Marketing for a
successful format change from A3 to A4, while Media Week’s Dave
McCullough won designer of the year for his work on the title’s major
