The Citizen newspaper in Gloucester has printed an entire news edition on pink paper.
The four-edition daily used Rosa pink paper to print a special edition on 27 October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month.
A
penny from the cover price of every edition sold was donated to the
Gloucester Breast Cancer Support Group. Businesses also took out a page
of advertising to support the initiative. The edition was sponsored by
Boots.
Editor Ian Mean said: “I wanted to do something really
special for breast cancer awareness month, and printing the newspaper
on pink paper was an immediate, visual and powerful way of hammering
home the message that we shouldn’t shy away from this illness.
“Everyone
knows someone who has been touched by cancer and I passionately believe
newspapers have a duty to raise awareness about cancer. We carried some
really moving stories about women who had fought breast cancer, as well
as packing the pages with useful information.”
