The first children's weekly to launch in the market, BBC Magazines' CBeebies Weekly, had a debut ABC of 80,437, while its other new youth offering, Dr Who Adventures, had 77,852 fortnightly sales.
Toni Round, managing director of youth and children titles, said it was unlikely CBeebies' success would lead to further weeklies in the market in the foreseeable future, and that there were "only a few brands that would sustain a weekly".
