NUJ members at the Cambridge Evening News have suspended an
official ballot for industrial action over the way they claim to have
been treated by management regarding planned redundancies at the paper.
According
to the NUJ members voted unanimously to hold a strike ballot after
management failed to discuss redundancies with members. But this
afternoon it emerged that the strike vote has been halted and instead
talks are set to start on 5 June.
Up to 20 jobs could be cut at the Yattendon Investment Trust-owned paper which employs 400 members of staff.
