After 28 years in journalism, Chris Buxton has achieved his first editorship at Yorkshire-based weekly the Gazette and Herald.
He is to take over later this year from Bob McMillan, who is retiring.
Buxton started his career in 1974 on the Lincolnshire Echo and stayed there for three years before moving on to Stoke-on-Trent-based news agency Raymonds.

Since then he has held subbing positions on the Birmingham Post and the Yorkshire Post and taken a threeyear career break in Germany.
He joined York daily the Evening Press in 1988 where he has progressed to assistant editor and been involved in redesigns, the growth of new publications and the development of the website www.thisisyork.co.uk.
The Ryedale-based Gazette & Herald is owned by Newsquest (as is the Evening Press) and has an ABC of 12,864, which was 7.7 per cent up year-on-year.
