Phillip Bye, a senior cameraman at ITN for 25 years, who filmed Sir Trevor McDonald’s interview with Saddam Hussein, receives an MBE for services to television news, writes Wale Azeez.
Anne Sloman, the BBC’s former chief political adviser, who was with the corporation for 36 years until the end of last year, receives an OBE.
Patricia Hodgson, former chief executive of the Independent Television Commission, is made a dame.
Former RTE newsroom executive Mike Burns is awarded the MBE in recognition of his work improving Anglo-Irish relations.
Burns became RTE’s London editor in 1986 after many years in the newsroom. He is currently a media consultant. In the early Nineties he worked for the British-Irish Interparliamentary Body as well as for Encounter, a group which promotes cultural and educational links between the Republic and Northern Ireland.
