Broadcast relaunch broadens scope of coverage

By Press Gazette

Broadcast has increased its news content and analysis as part of a revamp under new editor Conor Dignam, writes Ruth Addicott.

The move includes a five-page production section covering craft and production, a news page dedicated to the latest commissions, including a weekly Q&A with a commissioner or channel controller about the ideas they are looking for, and a news page dedicated to formats and deals, with emphasis on programme sales and format development.

“My feeling was that parts of the production business weren’t covered very well and we were missing out that element on a weekly basis,” Dignam said. “We’ve also beefed up our ratings coverage to carry more programme reports.”

There will also be more industry comment from contributors. Lisa Campbell has been appointed features editor and is due to join from Campaign Screen on 1 September.
