Brierley made editor-in-chief of MEED

By Press Gazette

Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) has appointed Sean Brierley as
editor-in-chief to lead editorial content on the weekly magazine and
website for the Middle East and North Africa.

Brierley, who joins this week, will be at the helm of MEED and MEED.com's editorial offices in London and Dubai.

Brierley
commented: "This is a great opportunity to join the brand at the
forefront of business journalism in the Middle East for 50 years.

"This
is a challenging and exciting time for the regional economy and for
MEED. It demands intelligent, insightful and objective journalism. It
also demands innovation and constant improvement."

He indicated
that his remit will include several major initiatives for MEED and
MEED.com that will build on the brand's strength and authority in the
region.

Brierley has been a journalist for 18 years. He has
edited three weekly business magazines – The Lawyer, The Engineer and
Finance Week. He was part of the launch team of Finance Week and
financeweek.co.uk in November 2004 as a result of his role running new
magazine development at Centaur Communications.

He is also a past
deputy editor of Marketing Week and former lecturer at Liverpool John
Moores University, as well as the author of a top-selling book on the
advertising industry for university students.
