Black day for seaside town

By Axegrinder axeblog

With thousands of Scousers still boycotting The Sun over its coverage of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, you’d have thought the paper might have learnt a lesson.

Well, it may be facing a similar backlash in Blackpool after the paper’s columnist Jon Gaunt poured a bucket of bile on the resort.

“It’s a stinking dosshole” and no one should waste money in “this cesspit”, moans a less-than jaunty Gaunty following a trip to the town.

In a move which will doubtless delight the town’s residents and readers, the columnist described Blackpool’s Winter Gardens thus: “They smelled of damp, urine and neglect and were symbolic of the town itself.”

Gaunty may well find himself walking the plank at the end of the pier show if he dares to show his face in the town again.
