The BBC has defended Today presenter John Humphrys’ interviewing of Conservative leader David Cameron on Wednesday last week, despite Humphrys admitting that the interview "did not go to plan".
The BBC issued a response to listener complaints after a "significant" number complained about "excessive interruptions" during the 8.10am interview.
The BBC responded by saying: "John Humphrys is a robust interviewer, one of the best in British broadcasting today. He set out to conduct a rigorous interview which explored the impact of those values and principles on a range of policy issues. Mr Cameron is an experienced political interviewee who expects a tough interview on the Today programme."
