BBC looks into claims News Channel gave Elle Macpherson free publicity

By Dominic wireposts

The BBC is investigating complaints that 30-minute programme on the BBC News Channel called “On the road with…Elle Macpherson” gave the model’s lingerie brand too much free publicity.

The Daily Telegraph today reports that the BBC has received five complaints about the programme which followed Macpherson as she launched a new lingerie collection. It was the first in a new series.

The Telegraph reports an anonymous message board poster who said: “I’m glad someone has picked this up because I was watching BBC news and then it cut to 30 minutes of Elle Macpherson doing publicity for herself … I hope Ofcom get involved because I don’t want the BBC to think they can get away with crap like that.”
