The BBC is considering cutting some of it foreign bureaux following a budget overspend, according to Broadcast.
The trade mag for the broadcasting industry reports that the BBC has exceeded its foreign news budget by nearly £1 million has already axed its halfd-hour BBC News channell programme Your News to save money.
A source is quoted in Broadcast as saying: “There is a real possibility that we may close some foreign bureaux.”
A spokesman for the BBC said that Your News had simply run its course and was funded from a different budget to foreign news.
