The BBC has appointed Andrew Wilson, currently head of regional and local programmes in Bristol, to the new role of head of the Journalism Foundation Scheme at the BBC College of Journalism.
Vin Ray, Director of the BBC College of Journalism, said: "Andrew brings a wealth of editorial and management experience to the college direction team.
"He will establish what I believe will be the industry's biggest and most ambitious foundation scheme, and the most comprehensive of its kind in the UK and probably anywhere in the world."
The scheme is intended to give new journalists, particularly at broadcast assistants and broadcast journalists, a strong grounding in the
key journalistic skills they will need throughout their career and an understanding of the BBC's values and editorial policy.
