B2B online and print figures to be combined

By Press Gazette

B2B publications are to be provided with combined print and digital edition ABC figures in the next auditing period.

The ABC Council's decision follows the move in 2004 which allowed publishers to include digital editions on separate certificates from their print figure.

The new certificate, the Print and Digital Edition Certificate of Circulation, will only count copies which readers have specifically asked to receive as digital editions.

Jan Pitt, director of B2B at ABC said: "ABC's continuing role is to serve the needs of all relevant parties in the media industry. In the case of the reporting of digital editions in the B2B sector, agreement was achieved between publishers, advertisers and media buyers. The industry consensus we have achieved ensures ABC continues to deliver a robust and accepted media currency."

VNU's Accountancy Age was the first ABC UK-audited publication to include analysis of digital editions within its ABC figure from July 2004 to June 2005 as the sector began to embrace a number of digital formats.
