APTN, the video news arm of Associated Press, has announced a
partnership and investment programme with City University’s MA in
international journalism.
APTN will provide formal internships
for students and update skills training for City University staff,
including masterclasses and visits to APTN’s facilities.
It is
also making an award for overseas students to ensure that short-term
financial pressures do not prevent them from studying. City and APTN
are investigating other ways that the organisations can work together,
concentrating on how APTN’s technical expertise can benefit City
students.
Nigel Baker, APTN’s executive director, said: “We
regard investment in education as crucial to the long-term health of
our industry.
“City University’s MA in International Journalism
is one of the world’s foremost courses for aspiring journalists and
APTN are delighted to strengthen our ties with the university in a
public and practical way.”
