The Creative Collective Media Consultancy is seeking applicants to take part in the second year of its newspaper internship programme for ethnic minorities.
The first year was so successful that three interns were offered contracts on national and regional newspapers.
Northcliffe’s Scunthorpe Telegraph and Centurion’s Supply Management have joined the existing newspapers and magazines taking part in the project – the Bradford Telegraph & Argus, The Times, Manchester Evening News, Nottingham Evening Post, the Financial Times and The Big Issue.
Eight internships for three months (six months on the Nottingham paper) are on offer.
The programme addresses continuing concerns about the lack of ethnic minorities in newsrooms.
Jon Grubb, editor of the Scunthorpe Telegraph, said: “If newspapers are going to grow and develop, we must tackle the issue of diversity in our newsroom.”
The deadline for applicants is 28 March. For details, go to interns@thecreativecollective.com.
