Alan Johnston is to return to his roots in March when he addresses past and present members of the NUJ‘s Gloucestershire Branch.

The former BBC correspondent, who worked for The Citizen during the late 1980s, is the guest of honour at the branch’s centenary dinner on March 28.

He spent a winter in the paper’s Forest of Dean district office alongside Sally Challoner, who is now a reporter for BBC TV’s Points West.

Sally said: ‘I have great memories of working with Alan and look forward to seeing him again and talking about old times. Many journalists began their career in the county and this will be a fantastic chance for us all to meet up.”

Tickets for the event at The Fountain Inn, Gloucester cost £15 and can be obtained by emailing Sally Challoner on sallychalloner@hotmail.co.uk. All past and present members of the Gloucestershire Branch are invited.
