Aberdeen Journals has lost an employment tribunal appeal against a decision to award a former Press and Journal business reporter £5,320 for constructive dismissal.
Inverness-based Bob King, 66, had won an employment tribunal on a majority decision in Aberdeen earlier this year, following his claims of bullying and harassment by two of the newspaper’s senior editorial executives.
Now Aberdeen Journals will have to pay the initial cash award, plus eight per cent interest, the costs of the original four-day hearing and the one day appeal before Lord Johnston presiding at the Employment Appeal Tribunal in Edinburgh.
This will amount to more than the original award in favour of King, who claimed: “The tribunal was never about money, but highlighting bullying and harassment”
