ABC figures for the British national daily newspapers sold in the Republic of Ireland show gains for The Sun, The Guardian and the Daily Mail.
The circulation of The Sun increased from 112,890 to 114,240 during the six months to the end of June. In contrast, the Daily Mirror dropped back from 84,200 to 78,800 copies daily.
Of the mid-market tabloids, the Daily Express lost market share, while the Daily Mail went up to 7,770.
The figures show that among the broadsheets, sales were dropped by the Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Times and the Financial Times. The only broadsheet to improve sales was The Guardian.
Of the Sundays, the circulation of the News of the World increased to 168,000 and among the broadsheets there were gains for The Sunday Times and The Business.
