The Audit Bureau of Circulation has appointed a new chief executive following the departure of Chris Boyd after eight years in the post.
Former chair of the Unilever UK Media Trading Committee, Jerry Wright, will replace Boyd next month at ABC, set up in 1931 to verify the circulation figures for newspapers and magazines. ABCe was set up in 1996 to audit the performance data for websites and emails.
Wright left Unilever in 2006 and has been working as a marketing consultant since then. He has been a member of the ISBA council since 2005, chairing its sustainability working group.
John Mayhead, ABC chairman, added: ‘Chris Boyd has done a superb job at ABC and this makes him a hard act to follow. I have every confidence that Jerry will continue to develop ABC and his experience of handling media issues will equip him well for this.”
