Sun reprises 1990 classic front with 'UP YOURS SENORS' message to Spain over Gibraltar

The Sun today reprised one of its most famous front pages when it emblazoned the words “UP YOURS SENORS!” on the front page.

It references a 1990 front page under then Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie which said: “UP YOURS DELORS”.

Back then The Sun was voicing its concerns about a European common currency and more powers for the European Parliament being sought by then European Commission Prpresident Jacques Delors.

Gibraltar’s first minister Fabian Picardo said: “It’s great to have The Sun onside.”

The front page voices The Sun’s defiance to EU suggestions that Gibraltar can only be included in a future trade deal with the UK with the approval of Spain.

The Sun also published a posted in its centre pages today with the words “HANDS OFF OUR ROCK” published in English and Spanish.

In a leader column the paper said that Britain should not go to war with Spain over Gibraltar.

But it added: “Mrs May must refuse to discuss any change in status for Gibraltar and rule out the non-starter of a Spanish veto on trade talks.

“Put simply, the PM should tell the EU and Spain once more: Hands Off Our Rock.”

The Sun didn’t let its forthright message to the Spanish government stop it from promoting its £15 holidays promotion to destinations including Spain on the front page.

  1. Fb and twitter are the walking dead.

They never have had any real value, just like snapchat and the rest… soc media is a house of cards that will fall as fast as AOL and MySpace in time. Alienating half of your userbase is never good for business and that is helping things along.

They have no real product, they have no real value and even now, their advertising pool is getting smaller by the day as their customers figure out they are not getting squat for their money compared to conventional advertising. It’s a matter of time.

Google actually has a “product”, many of them actually. I think that even though they are leftists, they try to walk a tightrope in order not to impact their bottom line… that’s just smart business.

  2. Also reported today that Amazon is now worth twice as much as a company than Walmart. Walmart was last decade’s commercial giant. Their big stores were their cash cows, so they ignored the internet and are losing to it. Now Google/FB are the new giants with their cash cows reaping hundreds of billions. They too, will become complacent with their cash cows and overlook their overreaching abuses of their teeny ant like individual customers. When you have billions of customers, squish, squish away with their stupid algorithm terminator robots. Another social media network, or similar product, will emerge that will not do the equivalent of sexual assaults to the privacy, copyrights and opinions of their users. The marketplace will fix this, eventually. And stop calling them algorithms, they are phuqueing robots.
