A new journalism “forum”, run by the London School of Economics and
London College of Communication, has been set up to discuss major
issues facing the industry.
A total of £200,000 is being spent on the Polis forum, which will
comprise a series of news and journalism-focused teaching and research
programmes and will include public lectures seminars and debates
starting in April 2006.
Short courses open to all will begin in autumn next year.
The programme will address issues such as blogging, citizen journalism and decreasing newspaper circulation.
Education Secretary Charles Clarke might take part in the forum.
