Former Daily Telegraph sports editor David Welch claims he is on course to make £1 million for journalist clients in the first year of his agency, David Welch Sport and Media Management.
Since launching the agency in April last year after he was made redundant from the Telegraph, Welch has signed up journalists for book deals, columns and speaking engagements, in addition to their normal work.
Journalists on his books include Paul Kimmage from The Sunday Times, Patrick Barclay from the Sunday Telegraph, Cornelius Lysaght from the BBC, Sam Wallace from The Independent, Martin Johnson and Jim White, both from The Daily Telegraph.
Welch said: "It’s good news for people that have the capacity and time to do work over and above their newspapers, to take it seriously and be properly rewarded for it."
