£1.8m copyright bill for IPC

IPC will pay the court costs, estimated at up to £1.8 million, following its failed copyright case against Highbury House.
IPC claimed Highbury’s Home magazine had copied key design
features of its own title Ideal Home, but this was rejected in the High
Court.
The company originally said it planned to appeal against the
decision, but did not ask permission to do so at a hearing this week,
when a judge ruled that IPC should bear its own £1m costs as well as
those of Highbury, thought to be close to £800,000.
