18% pay rise for Mecom chief exec David Montgomery

Former Mirror Group boss David Montgomery took an 18 per cent pay rise in 2008 in his job as chief executive of European newspaper group Mecom.

In its annual report, published yesterday morning, Mecom said Montgomery took home £578,000 last year – a £540,000 basic salary and a £38,000 bonus. This was up from £490,000 in the previous year.

Finance director Keith Allen’s take-home pay was up 14.6 per cent from £287,000 to £329,000.
